KPV (Lysine-Proline-Valine) is a C-terminal tripeptide fragment of α-MSH (alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone). It binds to melanocortin receptors (MC1R and MC3R) and is studied for its ability to block the NF-κB pathway and reduce pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α and IL-6.

Preclinical research has investigated KPV in models of colitis and inflammatory bowel disease, where it appears to support epithelial barrier function by attenuating inflammatory damage to tight junction complexes. Because PepT1 levels rise during intestinal inflammation, KPV may accumulate preferentially in inflamed tissue.
